3 Yoga-Inspired Poses to Shape Your Legs

It’s that time of the year again–days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, summer is coming! Try these 3 yoga-inspired moves to get those legs ready to leave the leggings at home and sport some short shorts!

Skiers pose

Skier’s Pose (Utkatasana variation):
Place your feet parallel to one another, hips distance apart. Inhale, bend your knees, and let your belly and your chest hover an inch above your thighs, reaching your arms back behind you. Exhale, press down into your heels, press your shinbones slightly back, and imagine as if you could move your heels away from one another as you draw them towards each other. Inhale, reach your arms forward, and exhale, reaching your arms back. Alternate with each breath. Try this for 5-6 breaths. Then, on your last exhale, rest in a forward fold.

Yoga workout for shorts

Tip Toe Mountain Pose & Squats (Tadasana & Malasana variation):
Stand in Mountain Pose with feet hip distance apart. On your inhale, reach your arms up overhead, and lift your heels up off of the ground. On your exhale, begin to slowly lower down to a squat. Keeping your heels lifted, inhale as you rise all the way up to Tip Toe Mountain Pose, exhale as you lower your heels, and relax your arms down by your sides. Repeat 3-4 times.

Lunges

Crescent Lunges:
Come into Crescent Pose with your hands on your hips, and bend your back knee a bit. Lengthen your tailbone down. Inhale, lengthen your spine, and feel your hips even and steady, facing forward. Exhale as you begin to bend your back knee towards the ground. Inhale as you lift it away from the ground. Repeat 3-4 times. And then switch sides.
